I accessed http://www.ewenger.com/theory/ to get background on Wenger and his work on communities of practice. I was quickly attracted to the blog to find the latest on the topic. I then related to your 1.21.10 post on tagging social media entries. At Ohio State University Extension I have entered into a discussion on yammer.com amongst university folks related to developing practices. I also opened a specific domain of discussion that is being set up as a community of practice around our HR Compency project. Twitter had taught me much about the sharing of experiences and ideas, but I have found that Yammer, being email-centric provides better structure for this project. Lastly, but so personally, I am always thrilled to hear anything about Sydney, AU because my son works there at the zoo in the free-flight bird shows and the education department. I hope you had a chance to visit while you were there. Anyway, this connection with you and your work is made possible by that greater tool for communities of practice, the internet. Best of luck in your work. Donna
Hi Donna!
Thanks for sharing your story around Yammer. The persistent centrality and power of email is still very strong – Im nodding in recognition of this importance, even as much as we say we want to get OUT of our email boxes.
Australia has always treated me well – many fabulous practitioners and a beautiful country. I look forward every time I get to return and visit a little bit more each time. On my australia blog there are more travel details! http://nancywhiteoz.wordpress.com/
